Evodia rutaecarpa contains wuchuyuamide-I, quercetin, limonin, evodiamine and rutaecarpine. There is also acylgluconic acids, trans-feruloylgluconic acid and trans-caffeoylgluconic acid, together with myo-inositol, phthalic acid dibutyl este.

To study the acute toxicity and mutagenic risk of the Evodia rutaecarpa water extracts and 70% Evodia rutaecarpa ethanol extracts from the nearly ripe fruit of Evodia rutaecarpa, and provide experimental basis for safety evaluation of ones. The oral LD50 of the Evodia rutaecarpa water extracts and Evodia rutaecarpa ethanol extracts in mice was more than 10.0 g x kg(-1) belonging to non-toxicity on the acute toxicity rating criteria. Both Evodia rutaecarpa water and ethanol extracts showed no genotoxicity in the experimental condition.
